Ambulatory hires to a pool that then works on matching you to a department about a month before your start date. Although we have clinics spread across middle Tennessee and beyond, nurse residents are typically matched to a clinic located on our main medical campus or One Hundred Oaks campus in Nashville and which has supportive environments for the new graduate nurse experience. The clinics available for each cohort vary based on availability. Some may include primary care, surgical care, cardiac or other specialty clinics, oncology, and infusion areas.
What is ambulatory care nursing?
Ambulatory care nursing is characterized by registered nurses (RNs) caring for high volumes of patients in short periods, often dealing with issues in each encounter that can be unpredictable. These encounters encompass both collaborative and RN-independent activities. In partnership and collaboration with other healthcare professionals, ambulatory care RNs address patients’ wellness, acute illnesses, chronic diseases, disabilities, and end-of-life needs.
In the professional domain of nursing, RNs are responsible for patient advocacy, application of evidence-based nursing knowledge, use of the nursing process during encounters, coordination of nursing and other health services, provision of health educational services, and continuity of care for patients as they transition across different types and levels of health care continuum services.
