Hello and welcome to 1-North!
My name is Fredia Fisher, BSN, RN, Nursing Director of the Post-Surgical/Medical unit, known as 1-North, at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital.
Located on the 1st floor of the North Tower, our 30-bed unit consists entirely of private patient rooms, each equipped with the resources needed to provide exceptional patient care. We pride ourselves on fostering a fast-paced, patient and family-centered environment that is driven by quality, safety, and teamwork.
Our unit provides care for adult patients (18 years and older) with a wide variety of medical and surgical needs. These include general surgery, orthopedics, bariatrics, gastrointestinal conditions, urology, plastic surgery, vascular procedures, trauma, wound care, oncology, and various medical diagnoses. What makes 1-North unique is the diverse patient population we serve, requiring our staff to develop broad clinical knowledge and skills while delivering individualized care.
Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital is a Level III Trauma Center and holds several specialty certifications and designations including:
• Total Knee and Hip Replacement Certification
• Stroke Center Certification
• Comprehensive Weight Loss Center
• Chest Pain Center Accreditation

To ensure your success, we provide a personalized orientation experience. Each new nurse is paired with experienced preceptors, and the orientation plan is tailored to meet the individual learning needs and professional growth.
