Welcome

Dear Colleague,
Thank you for your interest in joining a fantastic, talented nursing organization here at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital (VWCH).  We are proud to offer Vanderbilt excellence in Wilson County.   You will be working alongside an exceptional group of Registered Nurses who impact our community and deliver world-class nursing care. In addition to learning about the care delivered here at VWCH, I encourage you to take time to explore the many benefits of nursing at Vanderbilt.

I wanted to share the path that got me here. I started my journey in healthcare at Vanderbilt Medical Center as a Nurse Extern in the Adult Emergency Department.  This has been an incredible place to grow up as a registered nurse and now as a leader.  Most of my career was spent with Vanderbilt LifeFlight working as a flight nurse, leader, and administrator for the program. During my time with LifeFlight, I was fortunate to be involved in the transition the program from one aircraft into a comprehensive transport system.  This growth consisted of adding multiple rotor wing bases, starting a fixed-wing operation, Event Medicine, Ground Transport, Regional Communications Center, and a Critical Care Ground Transport program to develop the program into a fully integrated transport program.  In 2012 I was promoted to Hospital Administrative Director for Emergency Services integrating that with LifeFlight. During my leadership in LifeFlight and Emergency Services, I was fortunate to help establish a standard for a culture of safety and excellence and those roles helped me establish a foundation of community support. In July 2020 I was asked to take on the Interim role of Chief Nursing Officer of in addition to my continued role with LifeFlight.  In 2021, after VWCH began offering COVID Vaccines to the community I knew that being a part of the VWCH was exactly where I was supposed to be to continue my nursing career. I was fortunate to be named chief nursing officer of VWCH in the Spring of 2021, and at VWCH it has been a privilege to bring the Vanderbilt Nursing culture to VWCH.

As a Vanderbilt Nurse, I have had the honor of working with the most talented, passionate, and smart nurses, physicians, leaders, and team members.  Part of the Vanderbilt Nursing culture is embedded in the constant pursuit of excellence through evidence-based practice, patient advocacy, and staff support.   Our nursing team exemplifies the mission of delivering high-quality care resulting in excellent outcomes. The core behaviors embodied by all VWCH nurses start with putting the patient at the center of everything we do. I believe as a Vanderbilt nurse you have an opportunity to work with a team that values others and listens to your opinion. We have high expectations for performance and challenge the status quo to make patient care better.  I believe you’ll find that we are very proud and supportive of our nurses.  Nursing is essential to the quality and safety of the care we provide at VWCH. I look forward to meeting and hearing about your contributions to making.  Thank you for taking the time to learn what makes VWCH exceptional.
