Hello and welcome to 2-North!
My name is Fredia Fisher, BSN, RN, Nursing Director of the Medical/Cardiac unit, known as 2-North, at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital.
Located on the 2nd floor of the North Tower, our 30-bed unit consists entirely of private patient rooms, each equipped with the resources needed to provide exceptional patient care. We pride ourselves on fostering a patient and family-centered environment driven by quality, safety, teamwork, and compassion.
Our unit provides care for adult patients 18 years and older with a wide variety of medical conditions, as well as select surgical patients. Common diagnoses include chest pain, congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary edema, transient ischemic attack (TIA), stroke, kidney disease, diabetes, sepsis, and pneumonia among many others.
What makes 2-North unique is the diverse patient population we serve. This variety allows our nurses to develop broad clinical knowledge and strong assessment skills while delivering individualized care to every patient.
Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital is a Level III Trauma Center and is recognized through several specialty certifications and designations, including:
• Total Knee and Hip Replacement Certification
• Stroke Center Certification
• Comprehensive Weight Loss Center
• Chest Pain Center Accreditation
One of the many benefits of working on 2-North is the opportunity for professional growth within a caring and supportive environment. Our unit is known for its outstanding teamwork, family-like atmosphere, and high employee satisfaction. We believe collaboration, mutual respect, and support are the foundations of our success.
The nurses who thrive on 2-North are compassionate, dedicated, and committed to making a difference in the lives of their patients and colleagues. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels welcomed, valued, supported, and empowered to provide the highest quality care.
To help ensure your success, we provide a personalized orientation experience. Each new nurse is paired with experienced preceptors, and every orientation plan is tailored to meet the individual learning needs and foster professional growth.
We encourage professional growth
If your career goal is to positively impact the lives of others, 2-North can help with this by fostering an environment where the patients are our top priority.
