Megan Simmons, DNP, PMHNP

Assistant Professor of Nursing & Psychiatry

Dr. Simmons joined the Vanderbilt School of Nursing faculty in 2013, and was granted a secondary appointment in the Department of Psychiatry in 2015.  She has been a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) since 2005, and she received the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Vanderbilt in 2013.  The majority of her clinical experience has been with older adults in the outpatient and long-term care settings, and she currently practices in the outpatient geriatric psychiatry clinic.  In 2014, she was named the March of Dimes Middle Tennessee Behavioral Health Nurse of the Year, she co-founded and chaired the Geropsych Special Interest Group in the Geronotological Advanced Practice Nurses Association (GAPNA), and she is a member of Vanderbilt’s Institutional Review Board Health Sciences 3 committee.
