I began at Vanderbilt in 1989 as a patient care technician in the Emergency Department, a position I remained in until graduating nursing school in 1990. I then became a graduate nurse within the department, progressing to charge nurse/shift leader. My long association with Vanderbilt LifeFlight began when I started as a flight nurse in 1993. I progressed to leader and administrator of the program. One of the best things about being a leader at VUMC is the opportunity to work with the most exceptional people. Vanderbilt’s culture encourages collaboration and collegiality. I have the opportunity to work with others who are exceedingly passionate and desire to take great care of patients, families and one another. It always inspires and motivates me as a leader.
