GeoTrust has completed upgrading its public root certification authorities (CAs) to the 2048-bit "GeoTrust Global Root CA". All SSL certificates are now being signed from an intermediate CA under the GeoTrust Global Root CA, creating a stronger, chained CA hierarchy. Existing valid certificates issued off of old 1024-bit RSA keys will continue to operate correctly and securely with no action required on the part of customers.

Microsoft has announced price increases for Office, Project, SQL Server and Sharepoint Server. The increases are expected to take affect when these products are released during May and June this year. The new pricing will be posted in the ITS Software Store when it becomes available. If you need to avoid paying more for these products in the future, or plan on eventually migrating to the next releases, you might consider buying before May and including software assurance with your purchase. Software assurance includes new version rights and licenses include backward use rights.

Microsoft has announced it will stop offering Office Standard and Office Enterprise through its Student Select program when Office 2010 becomes available. Office Professional Plus 2010 will be the only edition of Office offered through Student Select. Vanderbilt employees and students who purchase Office Standard, Professional Plus, or Enterprise 2007 through the ITS Software Store between March 5, 2010 and September 30, 2010 qualify for a free Office 2010 Professional Plus license.

Matlab R2010a has been released and may be installed for free by customers who have purchased active Matlab subscriptions through the ITS Software Store. Current subscribers may access their download by logging into the Software Store and clicking on My Software. Matlab R2010a supports Windows (32-bit and 64-bit), Mac OS X (Intel 32-bit and Intel 64-bit), and Linux (32-bit and 64-bit).
