House Staff Pagers

Overview

The GME office maintains pager information for all house staff.  It is critical that there is accurate and timely issue of the pager.

Pager Assignment Process

  1. Program Coordinators are responsible to assign pagers to incoming house staff.
  2. The house officer’s name and pager number should be provided to the Satellink Office, smoore@aquiscommunications.com  and to the Office of Graduate Medical Education, gme.office@vumc.org. Other notifications should be determined by the Department and sent accordingly.
  3. This assignment should be made and received by GME and Satellink no later than June 1 for the traditional July 1 appointment.
  4. If the newly assigned pager was previously in use, again contact the Satellink Office to have the generic greeting reset.

Resident Pager Issue

  1. The Coordinator reassigns pagers to incoming house staff.
  2. If replacement or additional pagers are needed, the coordinator should contact GME for approval by email, gme.office@vumc.org.
  3. After approval and issue of the pager, the coordinator will receive an email that the pager is ready for pick up at the Satellink Office located at D-2103 MCN (in conjunction with Valet Services).
     

Resident Pager Retrieval

 

  1. When a resident has completed his residency training the coordinator should collect the pager in order to reissue to an incoming resident.
  2. It is at the discretion of the program coordinator to allow the resident to keep his original pager as he moves into a Vanderbilt fellowship or Vanderbilt faculty position.  If this is allowed, the Department will be responsible for any expenses associated with transferring or purchasing a replacement pager as well as the administrative tasks.

Clinical Fellow Pager Issue

Clinical Fellow Pager issue and purchase is the responsibility of the Department.
