Robert J. Dambrino, IV, MD

DambrinoRobert J. Dambrino, IV, MD was born in Hattiesburg, MS and raised in Grenada, MS. Rob attended Mississippi State University receiving a degree in biomedical engineering. After graduating summa cum laude from MSU, he matriculated into the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. During his time at UMMC he was founder and president of the UMMC Neurosurgery Interest Group and established the 3rd year neurosurgery elective for junior medical students. His research included the effect of deletion of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B in pro-opiomelanocortin neurons on leptin’s role in glucose utilization, blood pressure, and food intake and evaluating volume of treatment on outcomes in patients undergoing craniotomy for brain tumor and patients treated for unruptured cerebral aneurysms. Rob received the Meyer and Genevieve Falk Endowment Award and the Miller-Pittman Medical Scholarship and was awarded the University of Mississippi School of Medicine Neurosurgery Merit Award given to the most outstanding student in neurosurgery. He was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. After graduating from UMMC School of Medicine in 2018, Rob moved to Nashville to begin his neurosurgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His current clinical interests are neurosurgical oncology, skull base neurosurgery and spine surgery.

Rob is a lifelong Mississippi State Bulldog fan and enjoys cooking, singing and playing music, hiking, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. He is married to Catherine, who is a CPA with Deliotte’s audit practice.
