Silky Chotai, MD

ChotaiSilky Chotai, MD was born and raised in India. She attended medical school at Medical College Baroda, Maharaja Sayajirao University. She then obtained basic neurosurgical training in Guangzhou, China and Seoul, South Korea. After moving to the United States, she pursued a micro-neurosurgical skull base research fellowship at The Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio, followed by a minimally invasive neurosurgery fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. She joined Vanderbilt Spine Center as a post-doctoral clinical spine fellow and the Quality Outcomes Database (QOD) fellow. She has over 90 articles in high impact peer-reviewed neurosurgical journals, several abstracts, and book chapters to her credit. She has won several grants and awards, most notably from CNS/CSNS, NASS, and CSRS. She also serves as an editorial board member and reviewer for multiple national and international neurosurgical journals. Link to Silky's Pubmed listing

She plans to pursue an academic career in neuro-oncology and skull base surgery. She is passionate about outcome and neuroimaging research, big data and global neurosurgery. Outside work, Silky enjoys spending time with her husband who plans to pursue career in transplant surgery, family and friends and reading non-fiction works.
