VUMC IT Downtime Notification: AT&T Service Update October 10, 2023 

Outage Details

There is a scheduled AT&T DAS (Distributed Antenna System) downtime outage taking place on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, from 8:00 pm – 6:00 am CT. This planned outage will affect AT&T cellular and push-to-talk connectivity throughout our main campus, specifically Vanderbilt University Health and Medical Center.

Why is this outage occurring? This outage is due to construction activity.
How long will the repairs take? The outage is scheduled to begin at 8pm on October 10 and is expected to conclude on October 11 at 6am. 
What devices will be affected? All devices both VUMC and personally owned using AT&T services. Devices used off the main VUMC campus will not be affected. 
I have a carrier other than AT&T. Will I be affected? No.  Only AT&T devices will be affected during this time. 
What can I do to ensure my device will work during this outage? Please ensure your device has Wi-Fi calling turned on and is connected to one of VUMC's wireless networks. If you plan to use a VUMC app such as Mobile Heartbeat or Rover, you must be connected to the Mobile 5 Wi-Fi network. 
Will Mobile Heartbeat and Rover still work? Yes. These devices are set up on the Mobile 5 Wi-Fi network which will not be affected. 
How will my push-to-talk app be affected? iPhones connected to a VUMC Wi-Fi network will not be affected. Users with Sonim feature phones (a.k.a. brick phones) could experience an outage. VUMC IT will be in touch.
Will my pager still work? Yes. American Messaging Paging services are not affected.
Will I be able to connect to a wireless network? Yes. Wireless networks will not be affected.

What do I tell patients and visitors about this outage? Patients and guests can turn on wifi calling and connect to the VUMC Guest network.
