Service Articles - Work/Life Connections

From time to time at Vanderbilt, one of the members of our faculty or staff dies or is seriously injured. The loss leaves co-workers or a group of colleagues to deal with their own personal grief. Work/Life Connections-EAP counselors can assist management by meeting with individuals and/or groups to provide support for the managers, faculty, and staff who are dealing with the impact of loss. The Faculty and Staff Hardship Fund was established in 1994 to financially assist Vanderbilt faculty and staff who are experiencing a temporary hardship due to a significant life event. An award is intended to be a major step for the employee in the return to financial stability.
