Programming and Education

In addition to individual counseling, SHARE offers programming and education on a range of topics related to workplace sexual harassment. This includes trainings that are open to all VUMC employees, as well as personalized trainings for specific departments, units, or groups. Current offerings include:

Understanding the causes and consequences of sexual harassment
This educational program focuses the causes and consequences of workplace sexual harassment at the level of individuals, groups, and systems.

Equity and Well-being in the Workplace
This educational program provides information on why equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) is an essential part of a healthy workplace and offers strategies for creating more equitable environments at VUMC.

This educational program delves into how workplace sexual harassment affects our LGBTQI colleagues and offers information on how to intervene when you witness harassment and where to find resources and support.

Challenging conversations
This training addresses the barriers to speaking up when you witness harassing, demeaning, or disrespectful behavior. We also discuss productive and authentic ways to respond if your own behavior has a negative impact on a colleague.

Bystander Intervention (Green Dot, coming Spring 2021!)
Green Dot program engages witnesses to interrupt situations that are imminently or potentially high-risk for violence, increases self-efficacy and provides skill building and specific strategies to increase the likelihood that trained individuals will actually intervene. By expanding the role of bystanders beyond reactive, the Green Dot program trains participants to engage in proactive behaviors that model and endorse norms that are incompatible with violence.

Standing in Support: Helping a colleague who has experienced harassment
This educational training provides information about how sexual harassment and violence impact individuals and groups and offers ways to support those who have impacted by harassment and violence.

A leader's guide to creating an equitable work environment
This training aims to provide those in leadership or management roles at VUMC with information on the elements that contribute to equitable and supportive environments and practical steps they can take to engage their colleagues in creating more inclusive and respectful workspaces.
