Dr. Johnson joined our surgical faculty in the Department of Pediatric Surgery as Assistant Professor after serving as an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Surgery at University of Chicago, Comer Children’s Hospital. He specializes in pediatric surgery including surgical critical care, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), trauma, complex interventions such as chest wall deformity, and image-guided surgical techniques in children.

Research
Dr. Johnson has dedicated himself extensively to advancements in minimally invasive surgery, including image-guided surgical techniques and interventions. Pediatric surgery innovations and technologies are a primary focus of his research and have involved the use of both ultrasound and ECMO. Included among his recent publications in numerous peer-reviewed journals is "Ultrasound-guided enteropexy for repair of ostomy prolapse," Journal of Laparoendoscopic & Advanced Surgical Techniques. Additional publications include: "Ultrasound-guided gastrostomy tube placement: An evaluation of postoperative complications in the pediatric population," also in JLAST, and "Evaluating the risk of peri-umbilical hernia after sutured or sutureless gastroschisis closure," Journal of Pediatric Surgery.

Memberships, Awards and Honors
Dr. Johnson is board-certified in General Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, and Pediatric Surgery. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Association of Pediatrics, and the American Pediatric Surgery Association. He received a Faculty Teaching Award at the University of Chicago and two Fellow Teaching Awards at the University of Florida.

Education
Dr. Johnson earned his bachelor of science degree at the University of Oregon, Eugene, OR. He received his medical degree at Emory University, Atlanta, GA. His internship and residency in General Surgery were completed at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, Scottsdale, AZ. This was followed by fellowships in Pediatric Innovations, Pediatric Surgical Critical Care, and Image Guided Surgery at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. Dr. Johnson also completed a fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at the University of Florida, Gainesville.

Dr. Elmaraghi joined our surgical faculty in the Department of Plastic Surgery as Assistant Professor after a Fellowship in Hand, Nerve, and Microsurgery at Washington University, St. Louis, MO. He specializes in the impact of nerve impairment on hand function.

Research
Dr. Elmaraghi's research will focus on patient reported outcomes in hand surgery. Specifically, he is interested in assessing the impact of reconstructive upper extremity surgery using patient reported outcomes measures. Included among his recent publications in numerous peer-reviewed journals is "Radial nerve branch to anterior interosseous nerve transfer to restore finger pinch," Operative Neurosurgery. Additional publications include: "Post-graduate surgical education in East, Central, and Southern Africa: A needs assessment survey," Journal of the American College of Surgeons, and "Systematic review of replant salvage and cost utility analysis of inpatient monitoring after digit replantation," Journal of Hand Surgery.

Memberships, Awards and Honors
Dr. Elmaraghi is board-eligible in Plastic Surgery. He received the Department of Surgery Resident Teaching Award from the University of Wisconsin and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Elmaraghi is a candidate member of the American Association for Hand Surgery, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the American Society of Plastic Surgery.

Education
Dr. Elmaraghi earned his bachelor's and medical degrees at the University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY. His undergraduate degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in French. His residency in Plastic Surgery was completed at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI.

Dr. Al Adas joined our surgical faculty in the Department of Vascular Surgery as Assistant Professor. His clinical focus areas are aortic aneurysms and dissections including complex repairs, peripheral vascular disease, carotid and cerebrovascular disease, thoracic outlet syndrome, visceral and renovascular disease, and hemodialysis access.

Research
Dr. Al Adas's research will focus on clinical outcomes in vascular disease and surgery, intersecting with his clinical interests. His areas of interest include complex aortic endovascular repair, as well as lower extremity peripheral vascular disease. His projects have targeted thoracic and abdominal aortic pathologies, critical limb ischemia, carotid disease, dialysis access and venous disease.

Dr. Al Adas is a member of the American College of Surgeons and Alpha Omega Alpha. He is also a member of the Society of Vascular Surgery, the Society of Clinical Vascular Surgery, and the Eastern Vascular Society. Dr. Adas has received the Clyde F. Barker Chief Resident and Fellow Teaching Award and the Penn Center of Surgical Excellence Award.

Education
Dr. Al Adas received his medical degree at American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon. He completed a post-graduate research fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, MI. This was followed by a residency in Integrated Vascular Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA.
