Dr. Gallagher joined our surgical faculty in the Department of Pediatric Surgery, as Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatric Surgery, after serving as Chief of Pediatric Surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center and as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Her additional prior roles include pediatric surgeon at San Antonio Pediatric Surgery Associates and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery at University of Texas Health San Antonio, TX. She specializes in pediatric surgery, including neonatal, thoracic, minimally invasive, and trauma procedures.

Military Service
Dr. Gallagher is an active service member with the United States military and was recently promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army in May 2023. In addition to her Vanderbilt University Medical Center roles, Dr. Gallagher is on staff at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Clarksville, TN, and serves as chief of General Surgery there.

Dr. Gallagher is board-certified in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery by the American Board of Surgery. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Gallagher is also a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the Pediatric Trauma Society, and an executive member of the Excelsior Surgical Society.

Education
Dr. Gallagher earned her Bachelor of Science degree at West Point (the United States Military Academy), West Point, NY. She received her medical degree at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, MD. Her internship and residency in General Surgery were completed at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu HI. This was followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN.

Dr. Lineaweaver joined our surgical faculty in the Department of Plastic Surgery after serving as professor of Surgery at The University of Mississippi, Jackson, MS and associate professor of Plastic and Hand Surgery at Stanford University, Stanford, CA. His primary clinical practice and experience focus on acute and reconstructive burn care and reconstructive plastic surgery, including hand surgery. Dr. Lineaweaver will concentrate on adult plastic surgery and acute and secondary burn care. His other interests include peripheral nerve surgery and microsurgery.

Research
Dr. Lineaweaver has extensively researched burn care, with related research in surgical infections, flap circulation and physiology, and muscle innervation. Another primary focus of his research is practice economics and sustainability. Included among his recent publications in numerous peer-reviewed journals are: Burn Care in Mississippi: Past and Present, Journal of the Mississippi State Medical Association, Comparative study of frozen and permanent section for diagnosis of toxic epidermal necrolysis, Journal of Burn Care & Research, Annals of Plastic Surgery 2022;88:S392-400, and Annals of Plastic Surgery 2022;88:S119-126. Dr. Lineaweaver is also Editor-in-Chief of the Annals of Plastic Surgery.

Memberships and Honors
Dr. Lineaweaver is board-certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, and Southern Surgical Association. Dr. Lineaweaver was previously a visiting professor, including at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Louisiana State University-New Orleans. He was recently named Honorary Upchurch Lecturer by the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.

Education
Dr. Lineaweaver attended Davidson College, Davidson, NC. He received his medical degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, FL. His internship and residency in General Surgery were completed at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, and the University of Florida, respectively. His general surgery training was followed by a Plastic Surgery fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, CA.

Dr. Gordon joined our surgical faculty in the Department of Surgery, as Professor, after a professorship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, IL. Dr. Gordon’s research focuses on bioethics, and health services and outcomes research in organ transplantation and donation, leveraging qualitative methods and implementation science. She specializes in developing and evaluating patient-centered educational and culturally targeted decision aids and interventions that optimize informed treatment decisions and improve healthcare.

Research
Dr. Gordon’s primary focus of research aims to improve healthcare among Hispanic/Latinx and Black/African American patients, particularly kidney and liver transplant candidates and living donor candidates. Amongst her more than 170 peer-reviewed publications, recent articles include: Financial Impact of a Culturally Sensitive Hispanic Kidney Transplant Program on Increasing Living Donation, Transplantation 2022. Additional publications include: Information Needs and Development of a Question Prompt Sheet for Upper Extremity Vascularized Composite Allotransplantation: A Mixed Methods Study, Frontiers in Psychology 2022, and The Ethics of Donation After Circulatory Death Organ Recovery: An Overview of New Considerations Arising From Procurement Practice and Policy Changes, Current Opinion in Organ Transplantation 2022.

Dr. Gordon has been awarded numerous grants from the National Institutes of Health, serving as Principal Investigator on clinical trials related to ethical issues in living kidney donation, genetic testing, and increased risk donor organs in transplantation. Her additional grants focus on surgical innovations including xenotransplantation. Through Department of Defense funding, Dr. Gordon created Within Reach, a culturally targeted, neutral website about the option of hand/upper arm transplantation.

Dr. Gordon was a member of the National Academies of Sciences’ Committee on A Fairer and More Equitable, Cost-Effective, and Transparent System of Donor Organ Procurement, Allocation, and Distribution.

Memberships
Dr. Gordon is a member of the American Society of Transplantation, the American Society of Bioethics and Humanities. She has been awarded the 2022 American Association of Kidney Patients Medal of Excellence in the transplant professional category and the 2021 Distinguished Senior Career Award from the American Society of Transplantation. She was an Honoree of the 31st Annual Gift of Life Award from the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois and has been recognized as a World Expert in Patient Education by Expertscape.

Education
Dr. Gordon earned a bachelor of arts degree at the University of California, Santa Cruz, CA. She received her master of arts and doctor of philosophy degrees in Medical Anthropology from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. She completed her post-doctoral fellowship in Clinical Medical Ethics at the University of Chicago and a master of public health at the University of Illinois, both in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Bhandari joined our surgical faculty in the Department of Plastic Surgery, as Assistant Professor, after leaving the world renowned Kleinert Institute of Hand and Microsurgery, Louisville, KY. Dr. Bhandari’s practice will focus on hand and wrist surgery for adult and pediatric patients. He specializes in procedures involving reconstruction and microsurgery for wound coverage.

Research
Dr. Bhandari has extensively researched the role of nerve and vascular repair in surgery of the hand and other extremities. His research has focused on the use of regenerative agents and surgeries involving unique nerve conditions and injuries. Included among his recent publications in numerous peer-reviewed journals are: Management of tourniquet related nerve injury (TRNI): A systematic review, Cureus 2022; Rare case of intraneural lipoma of digital nerve, Case Reports in Plastic Surgery & Hand Surgery 2022; and Use of Integra® as a temporizing measure before definitive flap surgery in mangled extremities requiring revascularization, Cureus 2021. He has authored multiple chapters in Hand surgery books including Hand transplantation.

Dr. Bhandari is board-certified in India in MS General Surgery and MCh Plastic Surgery. He is a member of the American and Indian Medical Associations, the American Society of Reconstructive Transplantation, the Kentucky Medical Association, and the Greater Louisville Medical Society. 

Education
Dr. Bhandari earned his Bachelor of Medicine-Bachelor of Surgery degree at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Mangalore, Karnataka, India. His residency in General Surgery was completed at Calicut University, Calicut, Kerala, India, and his residency in Plastic Surgery was completed at Kerala University of Health Sciences, Calicut, Kerala, India. This was followed by fellowships in Facial Plastic Surgery at the Dutch Association of Facial Plastic Surgeons; Erasmus MC and Velthuis kliniek, Rotterdam, Netherlands; in Hand and Microsurgery at the Christine M Kleinert Institute of Hand and Microsurgery; Louisville KY; and in Craniofacial and Pediatric Plastic Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, TN.

Dr. Duffy joined our surgical faculty in the Department of Surgery, as Assistant Professor of Surgery, following his previous role as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Center, Aurora, CO. His specialized interests include burn surgery and burn reconstruction for adults and children. Dr. Duffy's responsibilities in these areas will include acute and trauma care, complex skin and soft tissue injury, and laser scar therapy.

Research
Dr. Duffy has extensively researched multiple dimensions of burn treatment, including the use of technology and palliative care. Another focus of his research is transfer protocols for patients at regional burn centers. Included among his recent publications in the Journal of Burn Care & Research are: Triage and transfer to a regional burn center: Impact of a mobile phone app; Early palliative care consultation in the burn unit: A quality improvement initiative to increase utilization; and Remote delivery of thrombolytics prior to transfer to a regional burn center for tissue salvage in frostbite: A single-center experience of 199 patients.

Dr. Robinson joined our surgical faculty in the Department of Pediatric Surgery, as assistant professor of Surgery and assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN upon completion of her fellowship in pediatric surgery at Boston Children's Hospital, Boston, MA. Dr. Robinson will be responsible for pediatric general and thoracic surgery, including neonates. Her clinical interests include minimally invasive procedures and surgeries of the esophagus, trachea, lungs, and diaphragm. Her other interests include genetic research aided by informatics and electronic health records.

Research
Dr. Robinson has studied extensively how electronic health records can be linked to genotyping and phenotyping to support clinical research. Other research focus areas include the genetic roots of congenital and pediatric surgery diseases, including the roots of obesity. Included among her recent publications in numerous peer-reviewed journals are: A pilot study to determine the incidence, type, and severity of non-routine events in neonates undergoing gastrostomy tube placement, Journal of Pediatric Surgery; Quantifying the phenome-wide disease burden of obesity using electronic health records and Mendelian randomization, Obesity; and Robot-assisted Partial Splenectomy for a Nonparasitic Splenic Cyst in a 15-year-old Female, Videoscopy.

Dr. Robinson is board-certified in general surgery and pediatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery. She is a member of multiple surgical associations including the American College of Surgeons, the Association for Academic Surgery, and the Association of Women Surgeons. She is also a member of the American Pediatric Surgical Association, where she has served on several committees, and the International Pediatric Endosurgery Group. 

Her memberships related to additional specialties include the American Medical Informatics Association and the American Society of Human Genetics. From Vanderbilt University Medical Center, she has received the Alfred Blalock Surgical Resident Award and the Vanderbilt General Surgery Harwell Wilson Award, the latter for medical research during her residency. She was also awarded the Dean’s Award for Exceptional Achievement in Graduate Studies while at Vanderbilt University for her graduate thesis. During fellowship, she received the Medical Student Teaching Award at Boston Children’s Hospital and was awarded the Boston Surgical Society Case of the Year.

Dr. Robinson earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics at the University of Georgia, Athens, GA. She received her medical degree at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, TN. Her internship and residency in General Surgery were completed at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. This was followed by her pediatric surgery fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. Robinson also holds a master's degree and PhD in Biomedical Informatics from Vanderbilt University.
