Nicholas Voutsinas Joins as Assistant Professor

The Department of Radiology is excited to welcome Nicholas Voutsinas, MD, as an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. Dr. Voutsinas joins us from New York, where he recently held a faculty appointment at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra Univeristy/Northwell Health.

Li Min Chen Receives Secondary Appointment in Biomedical Engineering

Congratulations to Li Min Chen, MD, PhD, Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, who has received a secondary appointment as Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering, effective October 15. "I am excited about the opportunity to work directly and mentor graduate students in the BME program," Dr. Chen says.

John R. Scheel, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H. is a Professor in the Breast Imaging Section in the Department of Clinical Radiology and Radiological Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dr. Scheel joined VUMC's faculty as an Associate Professor in 2022 after spending 10 years on the faculty at the University of Washington. He completed a radiology residency and breast imaging fellowship at the University of Virginia. He also served as the Chief Resident in the Department of Radiology at the University of Virginia. In 2023, Dr. Scheel was promoted to Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences.

Dr. Scheel believes in empowering his patients with knowledge that can help them make important decisions regarding their health. He aims to achieve individualized care for each patient, using evidence-based medicine and state-of-the-art technology. His clinical practice includes all aspects of breast imaging, including mammography, ultrasound, MRI, tomosynthesis, and breast interventional procedures.

Elizabeth Snyder Publishes Article on Grand Rounds in ABR Blog

Elizabeth Snyder, MD, Vice Chair for Wellbeing & Culture, Associate Director of Women in Radiology and Assistant Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, has published an article in the American Board of Radiology blog, entitled, "Jump at the Chance if Invited to Present at Grand Rounds." Congratulations to Mariam Moshiri, MD, FSAR, FSRU, Vice Chair of Faculty Recruitment and Development & Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, who has been selected to join the 2022-2023 cohort for the Leading, Empowering and Disrupting (LEAD) Program, a joint leadership program of the Society of Chairs of Academic Radiology Departments’ (SCARD) and GE Healthcare. Ty Todd Wins Gold Medal for Exhibit at ASHNR 2022 Meeting

Ty Todd, DO, has won a gold medal for an educational exhibit that he first-authored earlier this month at the 2022 ASHNR Annual Meeting in Denver, CO. Dr. Todd created a presentation focused on pediatric sinonasal masses, with the goal of teaching other radiologists how to recognize these entities by a systematic approach.
