The Nashville VA Medical Center is one of two main campuses in the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS), comprising two medical centers and nine outpatient clinics. NHC Place at Cool Springs is a comprehensive senior care campus in Franklin, Tenn., offering fellows robust exposure to the full continuum of geriatric psychiatric care. The facility includes a 180‑bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, assisted living apartments, and a dedicated memory care community, allowing trainees to work closely with older adults across varying levels of cognitive and functional impairment. Fellows gain hands-on experience in the evaluation and management of neurocognitive disorders, mood and psychotic illnesses, behavioral disturbances, and complex medical-psychiatric comorbidities within an interdisciplinary team model. The campus emphasizes resident-centered care, family engagement, and quality of life, providing a rich educational environment that supports the fellow’s development of clinical expertise in long-term care and memory care psychiatry.
