About this event
Purpose and Target Audience
The annual Contemporary Clinical Neurology Symposium offered by the Department of Neurology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is designed to provide practicing neurologists with the most up-to-date information for the diagnosis and management of the patient with neurologic conditions. Each day is built around a specific clinical topic presented by VUMC faculty.
Vanderbilt's Contemporary Clinical Neurology Symposium is designed primarily for practicing neurologists. Other neurology health care providers including fellows, residents, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners also benefit. Over the past 45 years, neurologists from the Southeast and Eastern seaboard have attended this symposium.
CME Credit Designation
Vanderbilt University Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Vanderbilt University Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 20.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Maintenance of Certification
Taking advantage of all the educational offerings at the 46th Annual Contemporary Clinical Neurology Symposium will likely fulfill a three-year cycle of Maintenance of Certification (MOC) exercises required by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) including three Part-II Self-Assessment Exams (24 CME credits, 8 per exam), and Part-IV Performance-in-Practice (20 CME Credits). Statement of Educational Need
To be more capable of practice at the level of the standard of care, neurologists need a better understanding of the pathophysiology of headache disorders, epilepsy, cognitive disorders, multiple sclerosis, and neuromuscular disorders. They also need improved evaluation and management strategies in addition to novel approaches in monitoring patients with headache disorders, epilepsy, cognitive disorders, multiple sclerosis, and neuromuscular disorders.
Learning Objectives
After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to describe and discuss:
- Describe and discuss improved evaluation and diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy, Headache, Stroke, and Movement Disorders.
- Describe and discuss evidence-based management strategies for Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy, Headache, Stroke, and Movement Disorders.
- Describe and discuss implications of federal policy changes related to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on patient access to approved therapies and the practice of neurology

Exhibitors
In-person exhibits will be offered during breakfast and scheduled breaks in the May Room from Tuesday, July 16 through Friday, July 19. Exhibitors must register online, in advance. Exhibit fees may be paid by credit card online, ACH, or check. The Agreement to Exhibit form is required as part of our exhibitor registration.

Accommodations
Attendees are responsible to make their own reservations for accommodations. A limited number of rooms have been reserved at the Omni at a discounted group rate. Once the room block is full, rates will be quoted based on availability. All room reservations are payable by the individual guest.

The welcome reception and symposium will be held at the Omni Hilton Head. It is recommended that attendees stay at the hotel or within Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort for ease of attending the events associated with this symposium.
FAQ's
Where is the Welcome Reception held? The Welcome Reception will be held at the Shorehouse (covered, outdoor oceanfront venue) at the Omni Hilton Head. Registrants and (1) guest are included in the registration fee. Additional guests may be added in advance (by June 17). There is a fee of $100.00 per additional guest. Children 10 and under are complimentary. Contact Lily Venditti directly to purchase additional tickets (Lily.J.Venditti@vumc.org).
Where is the symposium held? All sessions, meals and exhibits will be held indoors, in the Palmetto Ballroom and May Room at the Omni Hilton Head.
Where do I park? Parking at the Omni Hilton Head is limited to registered hotel guests. Should you choose to stay at another property, you will need to make arrangements for transportation to/from events held at the Omni Hilton Head, as parking will not be available. Suggested options are: Dunes Buggy (available on demand, starting at 8 am daily), Uber/Lyft (pricing based on distance & availability), bike, or walk.
NOTE: Palmetto Dunes gate passes are not valid for parking at the Omni Hilton Head. Gate passes are for entry into Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort and parking at individually reserved villas and homes.
How is the syllabus presented? A syllabus will be provided digitally.
What is the dress code? Business/Resort casual is appropriate for the Welcome Reception and the Symposium.
Where should I stay? The welcome reception and symposium will be held at the Omni Hilton Head. Attendees are responsible to make their own reservations for accommodations.
Omni Hilton Head Hotel Reservations
How do I receive my CME or Attendance credit for the symposium? Symposium attendees must complete online documentation of attendance after the symposium concludes in order to receive CME or Attendance credit. Attendees should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Certificates will be available online. Registration in the VUMC Cloud CME system is required. Create your account in advance and claim credit following the symposium - see link below to get started.
I am not able to attend the full symposium. What are my options? Registration fees are for the full symposium. You may choose to attend the full symposium or specific sessions that are of interest to you. Daily rates are not available.
Virtual sessions are held in real-time for CME credit. Recorded sessions are not available for CME credit.
I am an MSL. May I register to attend? MSLs are not permitted to attend in person, but may register to attend virtually, as silent participants (no Q&A). CME credits will not be provided to physician employees of pharmaceutical or medical device companies because physician employees of pharmaceutical or medical device companies are not allowed to participate in accredited CME activities.
What if I have to cancel? Cancellations must be made 30 days prior to the start of the symposium (by June 20) for a full refund (minus a $150 administrative fee).
What if the conference is canceled? In the event of cancellation or rescheduling of this CME activity due to unforeseen circumstances, Vanderbilt University Medical Center will refund registration fees in full. Vanderbilt University Medical Center is not responsible for non-transferable, non-refundable airline tickets or accommodations purchased in connection with attendance to this CME activity.
