Depression Awareness Month: Support if You are Struggling

Natalie Dodd, LCSW

October is deemed as “spooky month” which may represent a multitude of meanings to each of us. To some it may be their favorite month of the year, with a crispness to the air and an overflowing of pumpkin spiced everything. To others, though, it may be a reminder of past ghosts we cannot run from.

October is Depression Awareness Month, and it comes as a reminder that some may be needing extra support. This is a time to reflect and reach out for care and support if you are struggling mentally.

Here are a few depressive symptoms to be aware of: low motivation, decreased enjoyment in previously enjoyable activities, over-sleeping, increased negative thoughts, productivity issues, increased crying spells, suicidal thoughts, irritability, or dysphoric mood and affect, as well as appetite changes, to name a few.

If you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed above and would like to speak with one of our team members for support and coping techniques, please call the EAP office at 615-936-1327 to schedule your free and confidential appointment today.
