Applicants for any VUMC residency program will:
- Hold an appropriate degree for that educational training.
- Have a valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) if a foreign medical degree is held. New guidance beginning July 1, 2025 regarding updates to Canadian Medical School entrance requirements.
- Consent to reference and background screenings as part of the application process.
In addition to these institutional requirements, each program has specific eligibility requirements that must be satisfied.
Although most program applications are made through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS), programs do accept applications directly. The programs which do not utilize ERAS applications typically use the VUMC Standard application. Check the individual programs for specific application guidelines.
