Mollie Hobensack, PhD, RN, NI-BC is a National Library of Medicine Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, where she is focused on advancing her expertise in clinical informatics and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Her research interests center on the acquisition and implementation of informatics tools to enhance healthcare delivery and clinical workflows, with an emphasis on bridging the gap between research, clinical practice, and operations.

 

Dr. Hobensack earned her BSN from Case Western Reserve University and has experience working as a geriatric medical surgical nurse. She went on to complete her PhD as a T32 predoctoral trainee at Columbia University School of Nursing under the grant, Reducing Health Disparities Through Informatics (RHeaDI). Her dissertation focused on leveraging natural language processing and machine learning to examine the impact of social determinants of health on hospitalizations in the home healthcare setting. 

 

Following her PhD, Dr. Hobensack worked in operations at Mount Sinai Health System’s Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine. There, she collaborated closely with clinical teams and data scientists to optimize workflows, develop data-driven dashboards, and support quality improvement initiatives, furthering her expertise in understanding the data lifecycle within health systems.
