Eric Brown, MD, PhD

Dr. Brown is originally from Minnesota, but has been making his way south to Tennessee. He received both his medical degree and doctorate from the University of Iowa. Dr. Brown then completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. This was followed by a glaucoma fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where he was a Clinical Instructor in Ophthalmology.

Dr. Brown joined Vanderbilt’s Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences in 2015 where his main clinical focus is the medical and surgical management of glaucoma. He is the fellowship director for Vanderbilt’s glaucoma fellowship and is the chair of the ophthalmology residency program evaluation committee. His research interests include utilizing ophthalmic imaging and functional testing to predict glaucoma disease progression and assisting faculty, fellows, and residents with informatics and statistics projects. Finally, he is one of two ophthalmology eStar physician builders and clinical champions. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter.
