Jamie R. Robinson, MD, MS, PhD

Assistant Professor
Department of Pediatric Surgery
Assistant Professor
Department of Biomedical Informatics

Dr. Robinson is an Assistant Professor of Pediatric Surgery and Biomedical Informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. She is a pediatric surgeon specializing in neonatal, general, and thoracic surgery, with particular expertise in congenital anomalies of the esophagus and airway, including esophageal atresia, tracheoesophageal fistula, and tracheomalacia. She serves as Director of the Esophageal Atresia and Tracheomalacia Program at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, where she leads multidisciplinary efforts to improve the surgical management and long-term care of children with complex aerodigestive disorders. Her clinical interests also include minimally invasive surgery and congenital conditions involving the lungs and diaphragm.

Dr. Robinson earned her Bachelor of Science in Genetics from the University of Georgia and her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, followed by a pediatric surgery fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital. She also holds both a master's degree and a PhD in Biomedical Informatics from Vanderbilt University.

Her research focuses on understanding the genetic basis of congenital surgical diseases and translating genomic discoveries into improved diagnosis, risk stratification, and clinical care. By integrating genomic sequencing with electronic health record-derived clinical data, her work aims to identify genetic contributors to congenital anomalies, characterize long-term outcomes, and advance precision medicine in pediatric surgery. She also investigates the implementation of genomic testing into routine clinical care, particularly for critically ill infants.
