The new radiology center further expands our commitment to exceptional patient care and advancing medical education—and is a substantial addition to VUMC radiology facilities.

Katie Davis Talks New Imaging Law with Nashville Post

VUMC Radiology's Medical Director of Breast Imaging Services, Katie Davis, DO, recently spoke with the Nashville Post about a new law on supplemental imaging for breast screenings.  The new Tennessee legislation requires health plans to cover diagnostic imaging and supplemental breast screening without cost to the patient. This law removes the costs of this imaging, and with it a barrier to early breast cancer detection. 

Marques Bradshaw Promoted to Professor of Radiology

VUMC Radiology is excited to share the promotion of Marques Bradshaw, MD, MSCR, to the position of Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences.“Working in a department that doesn’t just talk the talk but walks it, has been thoroughly rewarding,” says Dr. Bradshaw. “I couldn’t be happier with the results, and it is a true honor to have the designation of Professor bestowed upon me.”Dr. Bradshaw has been an invaluable member of VUMC since joining as faculty in 2017. 

Bauml, Wright land eStar Physician Builder Awards

In recognition of significant hands-on contributions to health information technology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, radiologist and clinical informatics fellow Julie Bauml, MD, and internal medicine specialist Aileen Wright, MD, instructor, Department of Biomedical Informatics, have received 2023 Physician Builder Awards.

Mary Ellen Koran Receives Secondary Appointment in Otolaryngology

Congratulations to Assistant Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences Mary Ellen Koran, MD, PhD, for receiving a secondary appointment as an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. "I'm thankful for this appointment in Otolaryngology," says Dr. Koran. "I'm grateful to Dr. Eben Rosenthal for his research mentorship and for the collaborations with the OHNS faculty."  Dr. Koran joined our nuclear medicine section as faculty in 2021 after graduating from Vanderbilt's Medical Scientist Training Program, where she earned her MD and PhD.

Shannon Taylor Wins at ISMRM X-Nuclei Workshop in Marseille

The International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine X-Nuclei workshop was recently held in Marseille, France, and recognized one VUIIS student for their work in sodium MRI techniques. Shannon Taylor, a PhD student in biomedical engineering, took first place for her presentation “Tissue Sodium is High in Fat and Fibrosis of Human Unilateral Lymphedema.” Her research focuses on investigating lymphedema, a condition she says is understudied.

Cam Henry to Stay with VUMC Radiology as Fellow and Faculty

VUMC Radiology is happy to announce that fourth-year diagnostic radiology resident Cam Henry, MD, will be staying with the department as a Cardiothoracic Fellow. After his fellowship, Dr. Henry will then join our faculty as an Assistant Professor.

Jessica Miller to Stay with VUMC Radiology as Fellow and Faculty

The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is excited to share that fourth-year diagnostic radiology resident Jessica Miller, MD, PhD, will be staying with the department as an Emergency Radiology Fellow. Following her fellowship, Dr. Miller will join our Emergency Radiology section as an Assistant Professor.
