Mary Ellen Koran Receives Secondary Appointment in Otolaryngology

Congratulations to Assistant Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences Mary Ellen Koran, MD, PhD, for receiving a secondary appointment as an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery.

"I'm thankful for this appointment in Otolaryngology," says Dr. Koran. "I'm grateful to Dr. Eben Rosenthal for his research mentorship and for the collaborations with the OHNS faculty."

Dr. Koran joined our nuclear medicine section as faculty in 2021 after graduating from Vanderbilt's Medical Scientist Training Program, where she earned her MD and PhD.

Since then, she has worked closely with the Vanderbilt Memory and Alzheimer’s Center, where she is focused on developing novel positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracers and novel applications of available PET radiotracers to help tease apart the etiology of Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias and brain health in general.
