Dr. Jonathan Smith Joined the faculty in 2018 after completing a General Adult Psychiatry Residency and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He serves as the Medical Director for the Vanderbilt University Adult Hospital Psychiatry Services, including inpatient behavioral health consultation services and embedded teams. He is also the Director of the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship and site supervisor for medical students, psychiatry residents, and other trainees rotating within the medical center consultation services.  

Dr. Smith's clinical focus is consultation-liaison psychiatry, which is the psychiatric subspecialty focused on the evaluation and management of patients with medical illness who are experiencing behavioral health problems. He works collaboratively with many medical specialties including internal medicine, neurology, critical care, burn and trauma, oncology, obstetrics and gynecology, and surgery to ensure patients received effective and compassionate care for both medical and behavioral problems.
