Incoming Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellows

Taylor Burns is originally from Mississippi and excited to be back in the South following four years in New York. She completed her adult Psychiatry training at Mount Sinai Beth Israel where she served as chief resident in her final year. Dr. Burns is interested in the treatment of transitional age youth and legislative advocacy. In her free time she enjoys traveling, listening to live music, and watching college football.

Monica Rettenmier is a 3rd year psychiatry resident at Vanderbilt University. She is interested in the connection between childhood chronic disease and mental health and how diet and education factor into overall health. Originally from Texas, she and her husband Stephen enjoy spending time outdoors with their dogs, cooking, and exploring new foods and cultures.

Kiera Schlansky is a 3rd year psychiatry resident at Vanderbilt University. She is interested in the treatment of personality disorders in adolescents. Originally from California, she enjoys doing arts and crafts (personally and for therapeutic applications), furniture restoration, paddle boarding, yoga, and spending time with her husband Adam and their dog, Roo.

Hiren Umrania is a general psychiatry resident at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. He will be pursuing his child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN beginning July, 2017. Dr. Umrania is from Dhoraji a town of the state of Gujarat in India and currently lives in Brooklyn, NY with his family. He is interested in anxiety disorders in children, child trauma and developmental psychology. He enjoys nature and cooking in his free time.
