Obstetric Anesthesiology Division – Division Chief: Holly Ende, MD

Obstetric Anesthesiology Faculty Position

The Department of Anesthesiology's Obstetric Anesthesiology Division at Vanderbilt Health offers an exceptional clinical and academic environment for anesthesiologists seeking to practice at the highest level within a collaborative, multidisciplinary culture.

Our division includes nine fellowship-trained obstetric anesthesiologists who provide outstanding clinical expertise, mentorship, and subspecialty care. With approximately 5,700 deliveries annually, we care for a high-volume, high-acuity obstetric population, delivering the full spectrum of obstetric anesthesia - from routine labor analgesia to complex operative and postpartum care. As a tertiary referral center, we work closely with Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Obstetrics, Neonatology, Cardio-Obstetrics, Nursing, and Critical Care to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.

Our faculty have particular expertise in the anesthetic management of high-risk cardio-obstetric patients, including those with pulmonary hypertension, severe valvular disorders, arrhythmias, and congenital heart disease. Working alongside a dedicated cardio-obstetrics team of cardiologists, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, and cardiac anesthesiologists, our division helps design and deliver individualized peripartum anesthetic plans for some of the most complex cardiac patients in the region.

We are also proud to support an active fetal surgery program, providing anesthetic care for open fetal myelomeningocele repair, laser ablation for twin-twin transfusion syndrome, and intrauterine transfusion with percutaneous umbilical blood sampling. Our anesthesiologists collaborate closely with maternal-fetal medicine and pediatric surgery colleagues to safely care for both mother and fetus throughout these highly specialized procedures, reflecting our division's commitment to advancing the most innovative areas of obstetric and fetal care.

We are seeking a clinically excellent, team-oriented obstetric anesthesiologist to join our faculty. The ideal candidate is committed to exceptional patient care and has interests in education, quality and safety, clinical research, and/or program development. Fellowship training in obstetric anesthesiology (or equivalent experience) is required.
