This grand rounds lecture is designed for faculty, residents, staff and medical students.

Learning objectives of this presentation include the following:

  1. Describe utility of CEUS abdominal aorta endostent leak detection

  2. List CEUS enhancement characteristics of renal masses and complex cysts

  3. Describe utility of CEUS in evaluation of liver masses

  4. Detail when CEUS is useful in biopsies

Michelle L. Robbin, MD, MS, FACR, FAIUM, FSRU, completed a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Minnesota. She attended medical school at the Mayo Clinic, followed by an adult internal medicine internship at California Pacific Medical Center. Dr. Robbin completed a radiology residency and ultrasound fellowship at the University of California San Francisco. Thereafter, she joined the faculty in the abdominal imaging section of the Department of Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, as chief of ultrasound. Dr. Robbin has authored or coauthored more than 70 articles, 18 book chapters, and has given well over 100 presentations at national and international conferences. A fellow of the Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) and American College of Radiology, she received the Larry Mack award in 1999 for the best research paper presented at the SRU. Dr. Robbin has been a PI, CoPI or Investigator on 35 NIH and industry grants. Dr. Robbin’s research interests focus on vascular ultrasound in the hemodialysis patient, applications of contrast enhanced ultrasound in the liver and kidney, and increasing diagnostic confidence in the ultrasound examination, as well as expanding the breadth and depth of ultrasound applications.
