Residency Programs Hosting *Second* 2022 Virtual Open House

The Department of Radiology is happy to announce that it will be a hosting an additional interactive information session for our residency programs. Both Diagnostic Radiology and Integrated Interventional Radiology will be represented at the open house. The virtual Zoom event will take place on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 7:30PM CT. Adonteng Kwakye Joins as Assistant Professor

The Department of Radiology is excited to welcome Adonteng Kwakye, MD, as an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. Dr. Kwakye joins us from New York, where he recently completed an Interventional Radiology Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Laura Heyneman Joins as Professor

The Department of Radiology is excited to welcome Laura Heyneman, MD, as a Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. Dr. Heyneman joins us from Duke, where she spent the last seven years.

Michael Flowers Joins as Assistant Professor

The Department of Radiology is excited to welcome Michael Flowers, MD, as an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. Dr. Flowers joins us from Seattle, where he recently completed the Emergency and Trauma Radiology Fellowship at Harborview Medical Center. Previously, he completed his Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the University of Washington Medical Center, also in Seattle.

Thomas McLaren Receives Secondary Appointment in Medicine - Cardiology

Thomas McLaren, MD, Assistant Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, has received a secondary appointment as Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology), effective November 1, 2022. Dr. McLaren will be working with Sean Hughes, MD and Jeffrey Dendy, MD. Currently, there is an active collaboration in research and clinical responsibilities as well as helping educate Cardiology Fellows in their journey with Cardiac MRI/CT. Dr. McLaren also educates and develops the Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship.

Courtney Tomblinson Receives Secondary Appointment in Otolaryngology

Courtney M. Tomblinson, MD, has received a secondary appointment as Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery in the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. "My time as an ENT resident piqued my interest in diseases of the head and neck and was the basis for my career transition to Neuroradiology," Dr. Tomblinson says. "In this role, I will build upon current lines of service and experiences to bridge and strengthen our departments."'

Wright Pinson, MD, MBA, VUMC's Deputy CEO and Chief Health System Officer, introduces the group with great pride, explaining how they came together quickly to solve a complex and critical issue surrounding the recent contrast media shortage.
