Cari Motuzas, M.D., Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology and Radiological Sciences, was inducted into Vanderbilt University School of Medicine’s (VUSM) Academy for Excellence in Education at last week’s Annual Recognition Dinner.
Dr. Motuzas, along with eight other faculty, were welcomed as the Academy’s newest members, and were honored for their many contributions to upholding the educational mission of VUSM and Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC).
“I am thrilled to become a part of this extraordinary group of educators, and look forward to being an active member in the Academy,” said Dr. Motuzas.
The Academy was established in 2006 with a mission of “enhance[ing] the educational environment at [VUSM] and [VUMC] by advocating for the development, support, and recognition of dedicated educators, by sustaining a community of educators, and by fostering educational excellence, innovation, leadership, and scholarship.” Since its inception, its membership has grown to 110 members.
In addition to her role in the Neuroradiology section, Dr. Motuzas is actively engaged in resident and medical student education. She helped build the integrated science course, “Medical Imaging and Anatomy,” offered to third- and fourth-year medical students as part of VUSM’s Curriculum 2.0.
“I would like to congratulate Dr. Motuzas on this well-deserved honor, and to thank her for her dedication to teaching,” said Reed Omary, M.D., M.S., Carol D. and Henry P. Pendergrass Professor and Chair, Department of Radiology.
Dr. Motuzas joins fellow radiology faculty Drs. Omary, Edwin Donnelly, Lori Deitte, and founding member Arthur Fleischer, in the Academy.
