Sarah Nelson joined the Center for Cognitive Medicine in 2024 after graduating from Belmont University’s Doctorate of Nursing Practice program. She functions as the Center for Cognitive Medicine Nurse Practitioner, evaluating participants involved in Dr. Newhouse's studies. Before she became a Nurse Practitioner, she worked at VUMC as a bedside nurse serving geriatric and general adult populations.

Impact of inpatient addiction psychiatry consultation on opioid use disorder outcomes - Kristopher Kast - The American Journal on Addictions

A study published by Kristopher Kast & peers demonstrates improved opioid use disorder outcomes associated with addiction psychiatry consultation in the general hospital. Patients receiving consultation were more likely to receive MOUD & to have fewer ED & hospital readmissions.
