Police Officers at Vanderbilt undergo rigorous physical training at the Police Academy. Officers are evaluated prior to training using state guidelines to ensure their musculoskeletal and cardiovascular fitness to safely undergo Police Academy training.
All Vanderbilt Police Officer candidates entering the Academy must undergo a screening physical exam at the Occupational Health Clinic (OHC). Medical screening consists of:
- Health history review
- Physical exam targeting cardiovascular & musculoskeletal fitness and vision
- New employee screening (PPD, MMR, Varicella titer, Td booster)
- EKG for men age 45 or above and for women age 55 or above, and further cardiac evaluation if needed
