David Johnson, MD

Assistant Professor
Pediatrics

David Johnson, MD, is Pediatric Hospitalist at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt who has interests in using Quality Improvement science to improve the medical care provided to children. Using the Model for Improvement as the anchor of his QI work, near real-time data analysis using statistical process control charts is a vital component of understanding whether the changes his teams are making are resulting in the desired improvement. Obtaining this accurate, real-time data requires close collaboration with clinical informatic experts who are able to assist in developing refreshable data sets to be used for prospective data analysis through the course of the QI projects. Dr. Johnson continues to use these methods to improve value by reducing unnecessary diagnostic tests and drive care standardization that has reduced resource utilization.
