Dr. Wheless is an Instructor in Dermatology. He completed a combined MD/PhD at the Medical University of South Carolina before completing a residency in Dermatology at Vanderbilt. His research primarily focuses on understanding the heterogeneous risk for skin cancer among organ transplant recipients using general and genetic epidemiology approaches. His group also collaborates with investigators in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science to conduct deep learning analyses of whole slide pathology images of skin cancers to predict high-risk lesions.
