Jessica Leschied Joins as Associate Professor

VUMC Radiology is pleased to welcome Jessica Leschied, MB BCh BAO, FRCPC, FAAP, as an Associate Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences. Dr. Leschied will be a member of our Pediatric Radiology section, as well as providing assistance to our Musculoskeletal Radiology section.Dr. Leschied joins us from Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where she served as Senior Staff Radiologist since 2019. Previously, she's held faculty appointments at Wayne State University and the University of Michigan Medical School.

Leadership Updates in Pediatric Radiology Fellowship Program

The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is pleased to share an update about the leadership roles in our Pediatric Radiology Fellowship Program. Rekha Krishnasarma, MD, Assistant Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, who succeeds Sumit Pruthi, MD, MBBS, (effective August 1, 2022), will lead the team as the Pediatric Radiology Fellowship Program Director.

Thomas McLaren Featured in NBC News Article on Smoking and Lung Disease

Thomas McLaren, MD, Assistant Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, has been featured in a NBC News web article detailing the effects of smoke on your lungs. The piece, which cites a Radiology-published study, explored the risks associated with smoke inhalation, both by marijuana and cigarettes.

Hamideh Ale Ali and Philip Scherer Published in JNMT

A new case report authored by Hamideh Ale Ali, MD, Nuclear Medicine Fellow, and Philip Scherer, MD, Assistant Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, has been published in the Journal of Nuclear Medicine Technology.

Jenny Weaver Selected for 2023 AUR Radiology Management Program

VUMC Radiology is excited to share that Jenny Weaver, MD, Section Chief, Musculoskeletal Imaging, Associate Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, has been selected by the Association of University Radiologists to participate in the 2023 AUR Radiology Management Program at this year’s annual meeting.   The program selects 30 radiologists and administrators for management and leadership training through case-studies and keynote presentations. The 71st Annual AUR Meeting will be held in Austin, Texas, April 25-28.  

Christopher Baron Named to Academy for Excellence in Clinical Medicine

VUMC Radiology is proud to share that Christopher Baron, MD, Associate Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, has been inducted into the Academy for Excellence in Clinical Medicine.The AECM was created in 2021 by leaders in the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine to “honor exemplary clinicians who combine humanism, professionalism and a passion for patient care with a scholarly approach to improving patient health and establish a community of leaders to promote clinical excellence.”

Newly named to the American College of Radiology Lung Cancer Screening Committee, Kim Sandler, MD, Associate Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, shares what she sees as the current state and future of lung screening. Dr. Sandler spoke with Imaging Technology News (ITN) about the ACR’s focus on lung cancer screenings and how new guidelines are allowing for more people to be screened.
