Jump-Starting a Radiology Patient Advisory Group: Key Learning Points and Accomplishments Over the First Year

Last year, the Department of Radiology launched the Radiology Patient Advisory Council in an effort to improve patient engagement and the department's approach to family- and patient-centered care for radiology processes and procedures.

The council, comprised of Department of Radiology Chair Reed Omary, M.D., M.S., LeAnn Stokes, M.D., Lucy Spalluto, M.D., and five patient volunteers with experience in more than one imaging modality over a specified period of time, meets quarterly to discuss recommendations on how to improve the patient experience in radiology.

The Journal of the American College of Radiology recently published an article, "Jump-Starting a Radiology Patient Advisory Group: Key Learning Points and Accomplishments Over the First Year," that highlights the council's strategic approach to family- and patient-centered care and the progress made in its first year.
