Visiting Medical Student Rotations

Visiting Medical Student Rotations

Vanderbilt Department of Urology will be accepting five medical students per month for a 4-week elective in July, August, September, and October, 2022.

In addition to the VSLO application, students interested in a visiting medical student rotation must complete the VUMC Urology Visiting Medical Student Application. Here you will submit:

  • Current CV
  • Letter/personal statement expressing your interest in urology and our Urology Program and indicating any connections that you may have with our Division, Vanderbilt, and/or the Nashville region.
  • Rotation dates that you would prefer, indicating preference order (i.e., 1st choice, 2nd choice, etc.). Rotation date options are:
    • July 5 - 29
    • August 1 - 26
    • August 29 - September 23
    • September 26 - October 21
  • Optional: 1 letter of recommendation

The materials listed above, as well as the VSLO application must be submitted by Friday, April 29, 2022. The Department of Urology will review application materials and inform applicants of their acceptance on Monday, May 9, 2022. Students must then reply to our program coordinator, Cody Desaulniers by Friday, May 13, 2022 to confirm acceptance and rotation dates. Students must also then apply online through VSAS in order to complete the registration process.

Submission of both VSLO application and secondary VUMC Urology Visiting Medical Student Application are required to be considered and offered a visiting student rotation.  VSLO application will begin taking applications 3/29/22.

Please note that the Department of Urology promotes a diverse, equitable, and inclusive clinical learning environment and we would encourage applications from students who identify as underrepresented in medicine. Once a student has been confirmed for a visiting rotation with the Division of Urology, we would encourage URM students to apply for Diversity Sub-Internship Program that includes a $1500 stipend to subsidize expenses associated with the visiting rotation.
