Clinical Interests

Dr. Joyce offers the full spectrum of contemporary urologic oncology surgery, including advanced robotic, single-port robotic and complex open surgical procedures for kidney, testicular, bladder, prostate and adrenal genitourinary malignancies.

His practice is particularly focused on kidney and testicular cancers, especially highly complex cases requiring advanced surgical planning and multidisciplinary care. He performs cutting-edge, minimally invasive procedures such as single-port robotic partial nephrectomy while also maintaining expertise in major open oncologic operations, including retroperitoneal lymph node dissection and inferior vena cava tumor thrombus surgery for advanced renal cell carcinoma. Patients are frequently referred to him for technically challenging kidney masses, advanced testicular cancer and locally advanced genitourinary malignancies.

In addition to his surgical practice, Dr. Joyce is an active health services and outcomes researcher whose work focuses on improving the value of cancer care, reducing financial toxicity for patients and integrating patient-reported outcomes into clinical decision-making. His research has examined comparative effectiveness, healthcare policy, cost-effectiveness of cancer therapies and shared decision-making in urologic oncology. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and national presentations related to health care value, cancer outcomes, health care economics and patient-centered cancer care.

Dr. Joyce maintains an active national presence in academic urology and health care policy discussions, contributing to initiatives focused on improving cancer care delivery, transparency and physician-patient communication. His work seeks to combine surgical excellence, patient-centered care, health care economics and emerging technologies to improve outcomes and decision-making for patients with genitourinary cancers.
