This grand rounds lecture is designed for faculty, residents, staff and medical students.

Learning objectives of this presentation include:

  • Understand the concepts of musculoskeletal infectious emergencies including necrotizing fasciitis and septic arthritis
  • Describe radiologic findings of necrotizing fasciitis, and recommend next appropriate step
  • Describe radiologic findings of septic arthritis, and recommend next appropriate step

Hyojeong (Hazel) Mulcahy, MD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology who joined University of Washington in the year 2007. She is a Director of Musculoskeletal Radiology Residency Education, and Director of Musculoskeletal Interventions. Her area of expertise is in musculoskeletal imaging, sports injuries, traumatic injuries, arthritis and post-surgical complications. She has many individual and collaborative articles in diverse respected universal publications.

She received several awards in national and international meetings, and recently obtained Medical Education Research Certificate (MERC) which has accelerated her interest in medical education. She also was a recipient of “Excellence in Teaching Musculoskeletal Radiology to Fellows” this year.
