Dr. Edward Lee is a Professor of Radiology at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) and Harvard Medical School (HMS). He received his A.B. and M.D. from the University of Chicago (Phi Beta Kappa and Swift Scholar) and M.P.H. from Harvard University (Student Marshal), followed by an internal medicine internship at Harvard Medical Center and a diagnostic radiology residency at Mallincrodt Institute of Radiology / Washington University Medical Center. After completing pediatric radiology fellowship as a chief fellow at BCH and HMS in 2005, he joined the Department of Radiology at BCH and HMS. Since Dr. Lee was appointed as the Chief of Thoracic Imaging Division in 2010 – 2021, Director of MRI from 2012 - 2014, and Director of Advanced Imaging from 2023 – Present, he has integrated optimal imaging performance and interpretation across all modalities for congenital and acquired pediatric disorders at BCH.

Dr. Lee has contributed significantly as the leader of local, regional, national, and international societies and organizations: 1) Locally, he served as the President of the Medical Staff Organization (MSO) at BCH; 2) Regionally, he served as the President of the New England Roentgenray Society; 3) Nationally, he founded and chaired Thoracic Imaging Committee at Society for Pediatric Radiology (SPR); and 4) Internationally, he founded and served as the President of the International Society of Pediatric Thoracic Imaging (ISPTI) and is currently the chair of the pediatric thoracic imaging committee of the World Federation of Pediatric Imaging (WFPI).

As a past chair of the pediatric section of Core Education Committee (responsible for the initial Radiology Board Certification for radiology residents) and the current chair of the pediatric section of Online Longitudinal Assessment Committee (responsible for the Radiology Board Recertification for practicing radiologists) of the American Board of Radiology (ABR), Dr. Lee has been instrumental in establishing pediatric radiology education and qualification criteria for radiology residency training and practicing radiologists in the United States. For close to two decades of exceptional contribution to the ABR, he has received 2022 ABR Lifetime Service Award.
