Under the instruction of body imaging specialists and faculty members Asma Ahmad, M.D., and Geoffrey Wile, M.D., first- and second-year radiology residents recently participated in a valuable hands-on workshop at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s (VUMC) cadaver laboratory.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) has been designated a Lung Cancer Screening Center by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR Lung Cancer Screening Center designation is a voluntary program that recognizes facilities that have committed to practice safe, effective diagnostic care for individuals at the highest risk for lung cancer.

Today, the Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences announced the formation of its alumni network, the Vanderbilt Radiology Society (VRS).

Vanderbilt researcher Eduard Chekmenev, Ph.D., has been elected to the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) for his efforts to develop imaging markers for cancer and lung disease using hyperpolarized magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Chekmenev, who holds dual citizenship in Russia and the United States, said that, to his knowledge, he is the first American scientist to receive the honorary title of Professor of the RAS. The official award ceremony will be held in Moscow on March 21.
