CCX Visa in Radiology

CCXVisa.png

Medical students whose weekly continuity clinical experience (CCX) clinic is canceled for the week have the opportunity to get a VISA to the Department of Radiology. Most students will spend their first VISA in the chest reading room, where all of the inpatient chest x-rays (among other studies) are read. Students who get multiple VISA assignments to radiology have the opportunity to explore other areas of the department by visiting different reading rooms.

CONTACT PERSON

Dr. Edwin Donnelly is the departmental contact person for the VISA program. Once a VISA assignment to radiology has been given to the student, a meeting time and place will be set up. Students with a strong desire to see other reading rooms need only email him to set up an alternate location. Not all reading rooms are available on all days, however.

EXPERIENCE

The students will be sitting in the reading room with the faculty and residents as they interpret and dictate the studies. Typically the mornings are heavier than the afternoons, giving students the opportunity to converse with everyone on service, examine interesting cases and ask questions.
