Residency Preceptors
Medical Oncology:
Amanda Cass, PharmD, BCPS, BCOP
Dr. Cass is a clinical pharmacist in the Thoracic Oncology Clinic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She received her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in 2016 and subsequently completed her Pharmacy Practice Residency at Grady Health System and became a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist in 2017. In 2018, she completed her Oncology Pharmacy Residency at the University of North Carolina Medical Center.
Dr. Cass's previous research interests included opioid use in non-metastatic cancer patients after curative treatment and albumin effects on oxaliplatin related toxicities. Her current areas of interest are molecular mutations and use of targeted therapies in NSCLC, immunotherapy in SCLC, and global oncology care.
Dr. Cass is the preceptor for the Outpatient Thoracic Oncology Rotation.
Taylor Butler, PharmD, BCPS, BCOP
Dr. Butler is a clinical pharmacy specialist who has been practicing in the cancer pain clinic at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center since 2018. He received his doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Tennessee Health and Science Center and completed a pharmacy practice residency at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville, TN. He completed his hematology/oncology pharmacy residency at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA. Outside of his clinical duties, he is an adjunct professor at Belmont University, co-chair of the Vanderbilt Opioid Safety and Stewardship committee and an active member of the Society of Pain and Palliative Care Pharmacists (SPPCP) and Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC).
Dr. Butler is the preceptor for the Supportive and Palliative Oncology Clinic.
Robin Tumlinson, PharmD
Dr. Tumlinson is a clinical pharmacist practicing in the Genitourinary Oncology Clinic. She received her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from Auburn University. She then completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center followed by her PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency at Duke University Hospital before joining the Vanderbilt team.
Previous research efforts have included chemotherapy dosing intensity in middle-aged to elderly patients, as well as optimization of infusion protocols in the outpatient setting. Current interests include patient adherence with oral therapies and proactive management of treatment toxicities.
Dr. Tumlinson is the preceptor for the Outpatient Renal Cell/Genitourinary Oncology Rotation.
Lindsay Mundy, PharmD, BCOP
Dr. Mundy is a Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacist in the Head and Neck Cancer Clinic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She received her undergraduate and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the Purdue University College of Pharmacy. She previously practiced as a hematology/oncology pharmacist in the Columbus Regional Hospital Cancer Center in southern Indiana, and Indiana University Health Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis, IN before she joined the Vanderbilt team in 2020.
Outside of her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Mundy is an active member of the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) and National Community Oncology Dispensing Association (NCODA), and she is the Co-Presentation Chair (along with Dr. Hillis) for the PGY2 Oncology Residency program. Her current areas of interest include patient safety, supportive care regimens in patients undergoing concurrent chemoradiation, and incorporating genomics into the evolving landscape of cancer treatment strategies. Her current research project is in the mitigation of infusion reactions.
Dr. Mundy is a preceptor for the Head and Neck Cancer rotation.
Sean Wilson, PharmD
Dr. Wilson is a clinical pharmacist practicing in outpatient Adult Medical Oncology and Malignant Hematology at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center Cool Springs. She received her Master of Science in Biomolecular Science and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from Lipscomb University in 2021. She completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital Midtown and then went on to complete her PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency at Tristar Centennial Medical Center. Dr. Wilson's previous research efforts have focused on supportive care treatments in gynecologic malignancies and graft-versus-host disease prophylaxis in allogenic hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients. Dr. Wilson is an active member of the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) and American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP). Her practice interests include patient adherence strategies for oral oncolytics and pharmacists' impact in oncology ambulatory care settings.
Rebecca Pokorny, PharmD, BCPS, BCOP
Dr. Pokorny is a clinical pharmacist in the neuro-oncology clinic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She received her Doctorate of Pharmacy from Lipscomb University College of Pharmacy in 2017 and completed her Pharmacy Practice Residency at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, MI the following year. In 2019, she completed her Oncology Pharmacy Residency at Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, UT.
Outside of her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Pokorny is involved with the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) and serves as a content contributor for ChemoExperts.com, creating consumer-focused educational materials pertaining to chemotherapy treatment protocols and side effect management.
Her interest areas include immunotherapy, chemotherapy/immunotherapy toxicity management, patient education, and incorporating genomic medicine into the evolving landscape of primary brain tumor treatment.
Dr. Pokorny is a preceptor for the Outpatient Neuro-Oncology rotation and serves as residency program director for the PGY2 oncology pharmacy residency program.
Sara Nezirevic, PharmD
Dr. Nezirevic is a clinical pharmacist in the Gynecologic Oncology Clinic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She received her dual degree Doctorate of Pharmacy and Master of Public Health from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 2022. She went on to complete her Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2023, and Oncology Pharmacy Residency at Duke University Medical Center in 2024.
Dr. Nezirevic is an active member of Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA). Her current areas of interest include patient adherence and safety, supportive care, and management of oral oncolytics.
Dr. Nezirevic is a preceptor for the Outpatient Gynecologic Oncology rotation.
Keaton Gaffney, PharmD, BCPS, BCOP
Dr. Gaffney is a clinical pharmacist in the Breast Center Oncology Clinic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, located at One Hundred Oaks. She received her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in 2020. Subsequently, she completed her Pharmacy Practice Residency at CaroMont Regional Medical Center and became a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist in 2021. In 2025, she received her Oncology Pharmacy Specialty Certification.
Dr. Gaffney has collaborated on research regarding adverse events and the impact of immunotherapy in patients with triple-negative breast cancer. Her research interests include addressing social disparities and health outcomes with oral chemotherapy based on ethnic background and social determinants of health. Dr. Gaffney is an active member of the Tennessee Oncology Pharmacists Association (TOPA) and the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP).
Dr. Gaffney is the preceptor for the Outpatient Breast Cancer Oncology Rotation.
Michael Arnold, PharmD
Dr. Arnold is a clinical pharmacist in the Gastrointestinal Oncology Clinic at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in 2023. He completed his Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Missouri in 2024, and his Oncology Pharmacy Residency at Wake Forest Baptist in 2025.
Dr. Arnold’s previous research includes the pharmacist’s impact on outcome-based metrics in a GI oncology clinic. He is an active member of Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) and has areas of interest in patient education and adherence.
Dr. Arnold is a preceptor for the Outpatient Gastrointestinal Oncology rotation.
Hematology:
Rachel Gilmore, PharmD, BCOP
Dr. Gilmore is a Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacist practicing as a Clinical Pharmacist in Adult Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2021 and completed both her residencies in Pharmacy Practice and Hematology/Oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She practiced as a pediatric hematology/oncology and BMT clinical pharmacy specialist at Cleveland Clinic before returning to Vanderbilt in 2025. Dr. Gilmore’s previous research efforts have focused on drug-drug interactions in treatment of lymphomas, optimization of mesna use with high-dose cyclophosphamide, and conditioning regimens for adult patients undergoing stem cell transplantation for severe aplastic anemia. Her current research areas of interest include optimization of IEC therapy, gene therapy, and prevention and management of GVHD.
Bradley Yelvington, PharmD, BCOP
Dr. Yelvington is a Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacist practicing since 2017 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Adult Malignant Hematology. He received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy in 2015 and completed residencies in Pharmacy Practice at Greenville Health Systems and in Oncology at Wake Forest Baptist Health. In addition to patient care responsibilities at Vanderbilt, he serves as the malignant hematology pharmacy representative on the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy and Therapeutics subcommittee.
Dr. Yelvington’s past research has focused on therapeutic drug monitoring of busulfan in hematopoietic stem cell transplant and direct oral anticoagulant prescribing practices. Current interests include opportunistic infections in immunocompromised patients, use of direct oral anticoagulants in patients with hematologic malignancies, and management of drug-drug interactions in HIV-related lymphomas.
Dr. Yelvington is a preceptor for the Adult Malignant Hematology rotations.
Lindsay Orton, PharmD, BCOP
Dr. Orton is a Board-Certified Oncology Pharmacist practicing as a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist in Adult Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy. She received her Doctorate of Pharmacy from West Virginia University School of Pharmacy in 2019. She then completed both her Pharmacy Practice Residency and Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Practice Residency here at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, after which she transitioned into her current position. Dr. Orton’s previous research efforts have focused on post-transplant DNA methyltransferase inhibitor maintenance for MDS/AML patients.
Dr. Orton is a preceptor for the Adult Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy rotations.
Sarah Profitt, PharmD, BCOP
Dr. Profitt is a clinical pharmacy specialist practicing in adult malignant hematology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and completed both her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice and PGY2 Hematology/Oncology pharmacy residencies at the University of North Carolina. She practiced as an adult leukemia clinical pharmacy specialist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center before joining Vanderbilt in 2022.
Outside of her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Profitt is an active member of the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) and serves as an undergraduate mentor through the University of Tennessee. Her research interests include real-world outcomes in patients with acute and chronic leukemias.

Savnnah Ishee, PharmD, BCPPS
Dr. Ishee is the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Clinical Pharmacist Specialist at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in 2016 and subsequently completed her Pediatric Pharmacy Residency at Norton Children's Hospital in 2017. In 2018, she completed her Pediatric Oncology Pharmacy Residency also at Norton Children's Hospital.Since being at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hosptial at Vanderbilt, Dr. Ishee has become involed in the pediatric residency program and serves as a mentior for pharmacy residents. Aside from residency program Dr. Ishee conducts research within her interest areas which include supportive care management, infection prevention, and transitions of care.
Dr. Ishee is a preceptor for the Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant rotation.
Laura Hall, PharmD, BCPPSDr. Hall is a Board-Certified Pediatric Pharmacist Specialist practicing at Monroe Carell Jr Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. She received her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed her PGY1 and PGY2 residency training at Monroe Carell Jr Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. In addition to patient care responsibilities, she serves as the pediatric oncology pharmacy representative on the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy and Therapeutics subcommittee.
Dr. Hall is a preceptor for the Pediatric Oncology rotations.
Katie Cook, PharmD, BCPPSDr. Cook is a Board-Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist serving the Pediatric Oncology Department at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. She received her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Mississippi and completed both PGY1 and PGY2 residencies at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. She serves as a mentor to pediatric pharmacy residents in addition to her patient-centered care responsibilities. Outside of work, she enjoys cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels, reading thrillers, traveling, and spending time with her beloved Border Collie - Scout.

Nick Hopkins, PharmD, BCSCP
Manager, Oncology OperationsNick holds a PharmD from West Virginia University. He began his career working in the community pharmacy setting and transitioned to his first institutional pharmacy role at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2010 where he has served as an oncology pharmacy staff pharmacist and later, as staff supervisor. Nick currently oversees the operations of multiple pharmacy practice sites, with an oncology focus, including adult and pediatric patients in inpatient and ambulatory settings. Additionally, Nick serves on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Oncology Pharmacists Association.
Nick serves as preceptor for the longitudinal staffing experience for the Oncology PGY2 program.M. Scott Thompson, DPh
Manager, Oncology Pharmacy Service LineDr. Thompson received a B.S. from Murray State University with a double major in Biology/Chemistry. He received a B.S. in Pharmacy for the University of Kentucky. He took a position with Vanderbilt after graduation in 1986. Since taking this position, the majority of his work has been following his passion, Oncology. He rounded with the Pediatric Hem/Onc Service, served as the pharmacy representative in the startup of the solid organ liver transplant program and served on the 18-month Pharmacy Implementation Committee dedicated to redesign of pharmacy work processes.
Dr. Thompson was promoted into a leadership role in 2009 and was made Manager of the Oncology Pharmacy Service line in 2010. In this role, he committed to a separation of Investigational services from standard of care, building a team of a supervisor, two pharmacists and two technicians. He serves on multiple clinical, operational and financial committees. He is active in quality assurance and med safety committees as well. He is an active preceptor for four colleges of pharmacy.
Most recently, Dr. Thompson has been building and expanding the Oncology clinical pharmacist program. Starting with two clinical pharmacists, the program now has twelve clinical pharmacists.
Seven are embedded in ambulatory clinics. The rest dedicated to inpatient services. He also, oversees the clinical pharmacist at the off-site breast clinic. Partnering with VICC, he plans to continue the growth throughout hem/onc and SCT ambulatory clinics, including additional clinical resources throughout the expanding growth of VICC external sites.
Dr. Thompson serves as preceptor for the longitudinal administration rotation for the Oncology PGY2 program.

Angela Chambers Peake, PharmD (Oncology Investigational Drug Service)Dr. Peake is a clinical pharmacist in the Oncology Investigational Drug Service at Vanderbilt University Medical Center since 2016. She received her Doctorate of Pharmacy from Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. Prior to coming to VUMC she practiced in a variety of settings, including as a Pediatrics Clinical Staff Pharmacist, Drug Information Specialist and Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee coordinator. In addition to patient care responsibilities at Vanderbilt, she serves on the Scientific Review Committee, Clinical Review Implementation Committee, and Data Safety Monitoring Committee. Dr. Peake works closely with the Clinical Trials Office team to implement new studies at Vanderbilt.
