There are multiple pharmacy areas in our enterprise; including outpatient, clinic, and inpatient. The inpatient enterprise offers day, evening, and night shifts options to accommodate particular needs and schedules.
The department supports technician certification in the following ways:
- Continuing education is provided through a subscription to Pharmacy Technicians' Letter at no charge to the technician.
- Technicians are reimbursed for re-certification from PTCB or NHA and for the renewal of the state of TN Board of Pharmacy license.

Vanderbilt offers an extensive Pharmacy Technician career ladder and gives credit for years of experience in the field when determining compensation. In April 2020 all salaries were reviewed and adjusted to make technician salaries competitive in the TN market.
