Victoria L. Morgan, Ph.D.
Vicky Morgan, PhD, Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, is a biomedical engineer with expertise in neuroimaging. Dr. Morgan graduated from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, and earned her masters and doctorate degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Vanderbilt University. She joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 1999, and has secondary appointments in biomedical engineering, neurological surgery and neurology. She leads an NIH funded research laboratory in the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS) focused on improving outcomes after neurosurgical treatment in patients with conditions such as epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, and Parkinson's disease by characterizing brain network communication using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Clinically, Dr. Morgan developed and leads the service to use functional MRI to provide brain "road maps" to neurosurgeons to aid in surgical planning. In addition, she and her team work to create a bridge from computer to bedside by bringing new and emerging neuroimaging tools to the neurologists’ and neurosurgeons’ decision making process.
