Erin A. Cooke, MD, graduated summa cum laude as valedictorian of Wake Forest University with a major in studio art in 2001 and earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 2005. She completed diagnostic radiology residency at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle and MRI fellowship at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. Following training, she served as a staff radiologist with Ochsner and subsequently six years on faculty at Virginia Mason Medical Center, where she was head of the neuroradiology section from 2015 to 2017 and Co-Program Director of the diagnostic radiology residency from 2017 to 2020.

Dr. Cooke joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 2020 as an Associate Professor in the abdominal imaging section. In 2021, she was appointed Director of Arts for the Department of Radiology. As part of the arts initiatives, she directs the Vanderbilt Department of Radiology Art Gallery and chairs the American College of Radiology Art Subcommittee, which brings together radiologists, artists, and trainees across the country. In 2021, she started serving as Associate Program Director for the diagnostic radiology residency at Vanderbilt with a focus on curriculum development and in 2022 became the DR Residency Program Director.

Interests include education, the arts, mentoring, diversity in radiology, and quality improvement. She is a member of the American College of Radiology, American Roentgen Ray Society, Radiological Society of North American, Association of University Radiologists, American Association of Women Radiologists, and the Society of Abdominal Radiology. She also serves on committees for the American Board of Radiology, the Association of Women Radiologists, and the Association of Program Directors in Radiology.
