Interventional Radiology Interest Group Gains Momentum

Interventional Radiology is gaining momentum among medical students at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.  On September 10th, over 25 students from VUSM attended the 2nd annual introductory Interventional Radiology Interest group meeting.  Organized by PhD to MD students, Mary Ellen Koran and Jennifer Watchmaker, residents and attendings gathered in the medical school and illuminated the diverse and fascinating field of IR through an informational session led by attending Dr. Peter Bream, followed by IR cases presented from residents, Drs. Presely, Barraza, and Johnson.  As IR transitions into a primary specialty in medicine, the radiology department is looking forward to additional opportunities to involve the undergraduate medical audience through hands-on-sessions, research opportunities, and rotations in IR.
