Jennifer Weaver Succeeds Jake Block as MSK Section Chief

The Department of Radiology and Radiological Sciences is pleased to announce that Jennifer S. Weaver, MD, Associate Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, has stepped into the role of Section Chief of Musculoskeletal Imaging, effective October 1. Dr. Weaver succeeds Jake Block, MD, Vice Chair of Clinical Operations and Professor of Radiology and Radiological Sciences, whose visionary leadership of the MSK section over the last 15 years has taken it to new heights.

“I am extremely lucky to have the opportunity to work alongside the highly qualified, collegial, and motivated members of the Vanderbilt musculoskeletal imaging section,” Dr. Weaver says. “I look forward to continuing our section’s strong clinical mission established by Dr. Block: to provide high-quality care and timely service to our patients while increasing our educational and research initiatives. Our section has an exciting future ahead of us.”

“I would like to thank Dr. Block for skillfully leading the MSK section over the past 15 years," says Dr. Reed Omary. "Under his leadership, MSK was the section to undertake enterprise-wide subspecialty interpretation across all of the VUH inpatient, outpatient, VIS, and walk-in clinics, which is now the norm for other sections. In addition to undergoing tremendous clinical growth, MSK has received numerous teaching awards over the years. We now look forward to Dr. Weaver implementing her exciting vision for Radiology2030.”

VUMC Radiology is grateful to Dr. Block for his years of hard work and dedication as Section Chief of MSK. The department is looking forward to the section’s next chapter under the leadership of Dr. Weaver.
