She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Columbia University School of Nursing in New York, New York. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Nursing and Healthcare Administration from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, before completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Her professional interests include emergency psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, telepsychiatry, and the impact of social determinants of health on mental health outcomes. She is passionate about expanding access to quality psychiatric care through telehealth and other innovative care models, particularly for underserved communities. She is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centered care while helping patients and their families navigate complex mental health challenges.
